The K-pop idol was in Malaysia for his solo tour: Restart.
Super Junior member Kyuhyun is a man of many talents; he can dance, host and, now, sing flawlessly in Malay. The 36-year-old K-pop idol showed off this new skill at his recent solo concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
On Saturday (Apr 13), fans in Malaysia erupted into cheers when Kyuhyun performed a cover of Bunga-Bunga Cinta (Flowers Of Love), a 2002 ballad by Malaysian singer Misha Omar. Videos taken during the concert showed the Single’s Inferno host nailing the pronunciation of every single Malay word, drawing praise from viewers who called his performance “beautiful” and “worthy of a K-drama soundtrack”.
Even Misha Omar has commended Kyuhyun’s cover. In an Instagram Story, the 42-year-old singer said that she “was still smiling” and “didn’t know when she’d stop”. Speaking to Malaysian media outlet Gempak, Misha added: “Kyuhyun made the song sound more romantic.”
Bunga-Bunga Cinta was one of the biggest Malaysian hits of the early 2000s – topping charts for multiple weeks and winning a slew of industry awards. It remains one of Misha Omar’s most popular songs.
Kyuhyun’s upcoming shows will see him performing in cities such as Osaka, Taipei and Bangkok. He is also now starring in a new variety show with popular host Jun Hyun-moo and Oh My Girl member Mimi.
