CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A 17-year-old boy is under arrest for the murder of UC student Benjamin Addison.

“Every single one of these pictures you see a beautiful smile on his face. He was always a kind gentle loving person,” said Benjamin’s Dad Joe.

Photos are all Yeshi Leggesse and Joe Addison can hold onto for memories of their son, Benjamin Addison, the 21-year-old UC student that was gunned down.

“It’s just unbelievable to me. I’m still trying to process the whole thing. I still keep thinking he’s going to come through the door,” said Benjamin’s Mom Yeshi Leggesse.

Benjamin’s life ended in the early morning hours on Saturday, March 30. He was outside of a friend’s apartment on Highland Avenue near Dorchester in Mt. Auburn. His parents said that Benjamin noticed that his car lights were still on so he went outside to check. As he approached the car, he found two people inside, one of them then fired the shot that killed him.

“There was no warning, no get back, no waving, they just got out and started shooting and there was no chance for Benjamin,” said Joe.

Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide and Fugitive Units arrested a 17-year-old boy who they said was the shooter. Benjamin’s parents said they’re relieved the gunman is off the streets.

“What it does do is give us a little bit of relief knowing that this person is now in custody,” said Joe.

But, they said the arrest won’t bring back their son.

“Some days it’s hour by hour, not really day by day. It seems like it’s not real then other days it becomes too real,” said Leggesse.

And so, they remember their son, a truly special young man who was taken too soon.

“I know that Benjamin is looking down right now and he’s with us. He’s with us every minute of every day, he’s our guardian angel. I just want to say we love him, and he’ll always be with us in our hearts,” said Addison.

Police said that the investigation is still ongoing. If you have any information about Benjamin’s murder, call Crime Stoppers at (513)-352-3040.
